It is hard to believe that it is March!  Where has the year gone?  We are now in the final half of the school year – a time where so many of our efforts, time and strategies are paying off!  We are seeing amazing progress on our middle of the year assessments, new ideas being created and implemented, and so many clubs and competitions beginning to meet and compete.

Heritage is bustling with activities and projects.  Currently our doors are decorated with wonderful representations of our homerooms favorite books.  Today, is our door judging contest!  We also have projects, student writings and students drawings aligning our hallways.  Nonfiction stories are represented in the 3rd grade hallway such as models of tornadoes, the Titanic, snakes, and many more topics – great work everyone!

We are also about to roll out Enrichment Clusters here at Heritage.  We are calling our program: HEY DAYS. Heritage Enriching Youth.  For 5 weeks every student will take part in an enrichment cluster designed to meet their own personal interest or skill set.  All of our staff have designed a cluster experience -   a total of 30+ choices for enrichment clusters.  We are so looking forward to starting this program next week and watching our students explore topics beyond the curriculum and beyond their own classrooms!

As we head into the official spring months, we are always focused on maintaining the high expectations for academic, emotional and social growth.  Our Love and Logic philosophy has been woven into all classrooms and procedures.  Our levels of student ownership and student leadership are growing daily – we are seeing more and more students leading within the classroom, taking part in engaging and purposeful academic discussions, and contributing to the rich learning taking place.

We also are thankful for successful programs that have enriched our community.  RBA basketball, Science Olympiad, Odyssey of the Mind, FAME, Computer Kids Club, Si Espanol, Drama Club, Numbers Bee, and, of course, our before and after care Y program.  All of these opportunities add to the commitment of excellence here at Heritage.  I look forward to writing the May/June message and informing you of all the success for this 2016-2017 year!
