Greetings, Highlands Families:
As our 2016 portion of the school year comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the first half. Most important, on behalf of staff, thank you for the opportunity to work with your children and for your involvement with your child’s education. These last four months have been busy and focused on academics and our three PBS R’s (Respectful, Responsible, and Ready).
Academics → Students continue to develop their reading and math skills through whole group and small group instruction every day. Unified Arts instructors continue to build your child’s interest in their areas through an hour long experience.
Positive Behavior Support → Check in with your child about wildcat cash and the opportunities to participate in activities that are simply fun and engaging. Some highlights include: Ice Cream Social, Sock Hop, Color War, and Holiday Craft Fair. In class, teachers are implementing the PATHS program, building upon social interaction skills.
Community Support → Highlands regularly welcomes community members who mentor our students. We are grateful for their time and energy. United Way and Scholastic generously provide free books to our students, thus building their personal libraries and literacy. Keep on reading with your child daily!
Stay tuned for upcoming events at Highlands…

Mrs. Saunders and I wish you a warm holiday season. With all of us joining together, I know we will enjoy a successful and happy 2017.
